11:00a Broken Social Etiquette....
An earlier post describing one customer's lack of social etiquette reminded me of one continually used example...
Customers replying with a "Your Welcome" everytime I/We say "Thank You"
It means that they are either a) on autopilot and merely providing their usual "Thank You" response (great, they're ignoring us!) or b) feeling that their patronage is so crucial to the survival of Starbucks...
Any other glaring examples?

What does everyone think of Burundi Kayanza? I thought my taste for African coffees was diminishing until I tried this one yesterday and it's one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had! The aftertaste of berries is so intense and it doesn't have the usual citrusy finish that a lot of African coffees have.

10:05p ♥ photoshop fun! ♥
So I've been lurking around the internets a bunch tonight, and have fallen in love with the ulzzang thing ♥ while I actually bought fake eyelashes for the first time today, I don't have those crazy Circle Lenses which are vital for the look; however, I did have one tool which can make or break ulzzang ...

12:29a Clovers!
Did anyone else get a Clover this week? Apparently, there are only 50 stores in the U.S. with Clovers right now, and our store is one of them! :O I had no idea they were so limited until I went to the "how to use a Clover" meeting yesterday.
If you have one, what do you think? I am personally in love. It's easy to use and fast. And some of our regular customers are pretty excited about it.

12:07a "Chicks were born to give you fever/be it farenheit or centigrade."
Ahhh I got caught in a downpour tonight, no jacket (was wearing a sweater but had to take it off 'cause soaking wet cotton on feverish skin is NO) and just a sleeveless T-shirt and skirt and sandles. I knew I was gonna get sicker anyway, so I just reveled in the rain and it was SO AWESOME. All I could think was, "Alright Mother Nature--BRING IT ON, BITCH!" and I even splashed around in some puddles. You have NO IDEA how good that cold rain felt on my fever-ravaged body. .... You have NO IDEA how much sicker I feel now though. XD
I'm still gonna make it out to Tams tomorrow. I'm gonna try!
I'm starting to enjoy this fever. The dreams I've been having are fucking amazing. Most of them anyway. Last night I had the most erotic dream I have had in YEARS. It was absolutely kinky and insane and sjdhsjfhksfjh I've been thinking about it all day. Fevers certainly make going to sleep exciting. And that's where I'm going right now! :D
current mood: FEVER!

9:43p Cranky Post
Earlier today, I lost the pendant from my favorite necklace, the IPU one Duncan gave me for my 21st birthday. Went through everywhere it could have fallen with a fine tooth comb with no success.
And now I've got a splitting sinus headache. I figured I'd sleep it off, and just after I turn off the light and lie down, the girls in the dorm across the hall start blaring REALLY REALLY LOUD country music.
I'm also extremely frustrated by getting sucked into debates about the upcoming US presidential election, when of course I can't vote or even donate money to the campaign I support. (That'd be Obama of course, just FYI -- but now would be a very very bad time to try and argue with me about that.)
Plus I've got this killer craving for salt and vinegar chips, but I'm stuck in my dorm. T___T I need my driver's license, and a car. The first one is possible, the second one is highly improbable. Boo.
Anyway. I feel like crap. And what's a good thing to do when you feel like crap? Throw it at a journal hardly anyone reads. I do feel better after getting all that out.. Maybe I'll read a nice totally apolitical book.

4:53p "atta boy"
yeah. so i'm on the reg and a male customer orders an ice venti h20. because it's so-cal and everyone wants free water, we mark the cups so our register people aren't constantly running around getting these cheapskates their water.
i mark his cup and say, "i have to put in the the line to be fair, you just have a few drinks ahead of you" and he whips out a dollar bill, "well i'll give you guys a dollar tip if you get it for me now."
i'm thinking to myself, "i drive a fucking bmw and this jackass is waiving a dollar in my face like i'm some desperate crackwhore." but... JUST SAY YES! (i fucking hate that policy by the way, on SO many levels) so i make his stupid water and as he drops the single in our tip jar says, "atta boy."
um, okay, what kind of douchebag says "atta boy" to a complete stranger? every single day i am just BLOWN AWAY by our some of our customers and their complete lack of social etiquette. i can't for the day i finally snap and put all these bitches in their places.

7:53p 1st West End Scrabble Meet-Up!
I take great pleasure in announcing the first West End Scrabble Meet-Up!
The details are as follows:
Location: Trenholme park in NDG (3 blocks west of Cavendish) at Sherbrooke St. Here is the map. Date: Saturday, Sept. 27th Time: 3 PM
If the weather is inclement, we will meet across the street at Cafe 92. I have asked them and they have no problem with us meeting there. Like most independent cafés, it's a bit small but we'll see how it goes and decide based on the turnout. Map is here.
Looking forward to seeing you all.
Happy tiling!

6:35p Hi!
Hello :)
I am hoping to work for Starbucks in the near future!! I have a question that I was hoping you could help me with! --
What was your interview like? What sort of questions were asked?
I am excited and yet nervous of an interview 'cause you just never know what to expect! :)
Thanks!

2:53p I fell in love with Starbucks again
So I just recently got hired at a corp starbucks store in Seattle. I used to work a licensed store for about a year and it kinda sucked but i loved the people i worked with. I just started at my corp store and I'm happy to say I fell in love with Starbucks all over again. Its so different but also so much like my old store at the same time. I love the people I work with, plus my new store has the new espresso machines which are amazing, but i did notice they are a lot slower than the old ones. Anyway just wanted to tell everyone that.

1:12p mystery graffiti
so lately I (you) have been seeing the words "SPY EAR VOCALIZE SILENT"
or "VOCALIZE SILENT SPYEARSPY"
scrawled all over this city's Public Realm. I would take a picture of this little phenomenon but unfortunately I have no camera to call my own. anyone have an idea of what these graffiti could mean? who's behind them? misguided "viral" campaign or Legitimate Expression? google has been a letdown so far.

11:57a Dollarama hours?
This is a follow up question to one I asked a few days ago, and got a ton of great responses to, so thanks.
Does anyone know the Sunday hours of the Dollarama store on Parc north of St. Viateur (around Barnard)? Or the one on Mont Royal heading towards Papineau?
Thanks again...
